Damaged drywall makes walls and ceilings look ugly, and even though you take pride in your home, it will never look the best with damaged drywall. Ainsworth Painting repairs drywall cracks, holes, and water damage so that you can take pride in your home.
Common Types of Drywall Damage
Water Damage – This damage occurs when pipes burst or a slow leak. Drywall soaks up and stores water. It takes a long time for drywall to dry out, and once it is wet, the integrity/strength of drywall is lost forever. Removing the affected areas and installing new drywall is the only way to fix dry damage by water.
Corner Bead Damage – This damage occurs when the outside corners of drywall crack. The outer corner of drywall is protected by a corner bead, usually metal or plastic. The corner bead cracks due to stress, and that stress crack usually runs the entire length of the wall. We also see corner beads that have been damaged or dented, making the corners no longer look sharp and clean.
Holes – Holes can occur in your drywall from a door knob, rowdy kids, sticking a foot through the attic floor, and various other reasons. Holes are repaired by removing the damaged drywall and patching with new drywall.
Nail Pops – Nail pops occur when the drywall nails or screws no longer fasten the drywall to the wall, and the drywall becomes loose. Nail pops leave a crater resembling a dime-sized hole or a mound. Nail pops usually result from the drywall nails or fasteners not properly installed during the drywall hanging phase. We repair nail pops by installing new drywall screws to either side of the damage, then applying a fresh coat of drywall mud.
Stress Cracks – Stress cracks occur when there is movement to the drywall. Stress cracks could be from the house settling, foundation repairs, or movement in the framing. We repair stress cracks by adding a new layer of tape and mud over the break.
Matching Texture
Once the area is repaired, we match the existing texture to minimize the appearance of the damage. Some typical textures we see are knockdown texture, orange peel texture, roll-on texture, and stomp. We carefully match the texture to make it unnoticeable at first glance.
Large Drywall Repair
Large Drywall repair is when multiple sheets of drywall need to be replaced. Our most extensive drywall repairs are usually due to water damage, so we must replace a large area with new drywall. Ainsworth Painting can install large areas of new drywall, tape, float, and texture.
Installing New Drywall for New Construction
Ainsworth Painting doesn’t install drywall for new construction projects. Frankly, we are professional painters; that is our specialty. Larger new construction projects are best suited for companies that specialize in new drywall installation.
How Much Does Drywall Repair Cost
The prices of drywall repairs are based on the job’s size and difficulty. Small jobs often take just as long as more significant projects because of the length of time it takes drywall mud to dry. At Ainsworth Painting, our drywall repairs start at $560.00. For a free estimate, please contact Ainsworth Painting.
